Instructor: Ashley Whiting
Dates: Oct 19, 26, Nov 2 2:00-4:00pm
In this workshop students will learn how to approach complex nature scenes using fine-liner Micron pens. The course will first teach students how to thumbnail, plan out perspective, and how to simplify complex references. Next, students will learn how to add depth, atmospheric perspective, and gesture to their scenes. Lastly, the instructor will provide tips for making your illustration more pleasing to look at, such as adding focal points, avoiding tangents or symmetry, and utilizing line weight variation. Students will be encouraged to make their own illustrations, instead of following what the instructor does step-by-step.
You can pay the instructor $20 in the first class for basic supplies or bring your own (materials list: .003, .005, and .01 Micron pens; a light gray and dark gray .01 Micron pen; mechanical and #2 pencils; Bristol paper).
