Gallery Da Vinci is pleased to present Everyday Encounters in the American Southeast, a solo exhibition of photographs by Jiawei Zhou, on view July 31 through August 7, 2026, with an opening reception on July 31.

Based in San Francisco, Zhou approaches photography as a way of discovering the quiet beauty of unfamiliar places through temporary dwelling. Moving through New Orleans, Savannah, and Charleston, his images unfold as a single continuous journey. One city gradually gives way to the next. Warm colors soften into cooler light. Lively streets dissolve into stillness. Small, familiar details begin to echo across different places, tying the journey together even as the landscape changes.

Windows, reflections, sidewalks, architecture, and passing everyday moments become quiet markers of presence throughout the series. Zhou's photographs trace the experience of briefly living within these cities. His approach is attentive, unhurried, and open to what surfaces in ordinary corners. The resulting body of work carries the feeling of passing through a place and of what lingers afterward.
